Job Description :

Substitute Teachers for all grades, all subjects, and many schools in the DMV area.


Substitute teaching is an excellent way to learn about our schools while allowing principals and teachers to get to know you. To qualify as a substitute teacher, you need a bachelor's degree, and experience with students or a teacher preparation program. Please provide proof of attainment of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university by scanning your transcript (with degree conferral) and attaching it to your candidate profile.


We currently have a large roster of active substitute teachers, and an extremely competitive applicant pool. Substitute teachers are temporary employees and are on an on call basis.


Required Qualifications :

Demonstrated competencies in the following areas are a must:




  • Lesson Plan Development: Experience in developing and executing age appropriate lesson plans

  • Behavior Management & Classroom Management: Ability to enforce 100% engagement in a classroom at all times and utilize behavior management strategies to set and maintain clear expectations.

  • Communication Skills: Strong possession of verbal and written skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues and school administration

  • Prior experience in establishing environments whereby creative art is explored, discovered, and observed

  • A demonstrated track record of propelling student academic growth and mastery

  • Commitment to on-going professional development

  • Commitment to the belief that all students can learn characterized by high content and high expectations for all learners.

  •  Ability to use a variety of instructional and behavioral management strategies appropriate to the needs of school adolescents, and techniques integrating reading, writing, math, and technology throughout the content areas.

  •  Ability to self-reflect on instructional practices and personal interactions for continuous improvement.

  •  Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and community demonstrating organizational agility. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills. 

  • Commitment to young adolescents serving as an advocate, a role model, and a supporter of diversity (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, developmental differences, learning styles, and exceptionalities).
